James O'Rourke Letter to the Men

To the Men of Motomo,

It's been 2 years since, together, we created our nation's purpose and 30 year vision. Your willingness and strength in stepping into those gave us some major wins as an organization:

  • We've created a successful summit of men's organizations, and are now seen as leaders in that community.
  • We've strengthened our relationship with the women, and have helped earned back an East Coast Weekend.
  • We've registered the majority of men into each of the East Coast Men's Weekends.
  • We've created the leadership in Motomo required to take us into our next level.
  • Motomo is now a legally recognized charity, allowing us to build and grow our purpose.

With those organizational wins under our belt, we are now shifting our focus back to the men, and individual teams. It is time to support every man on our teams to find his purpose or his cause. What is it that inspires you? Coming down through your teams will be step-by-step actions, that will guide you and your men through a process to discover your Purpose and begin living it. This will be a compass to guide your lives to the success, clarity, legacy and fulfillment, which you've been fighting for, and deserve.

Team Players

The program being rolled out requires three things:

  1. Everyone ups their standards.
    1. Every team is on mission with the purpose of a Men's Team: "To provide a space for men to serve each other by helping each man on his team close the gap between the man he is being today and the man he truly wants to be, learning to increase influence and inspire action as a way of life, and discovering and serving his purpose."
    2. Standards are clear for men on teams, every leadership position and every Motomo team. We know what's expected of each other and hold each other to that level.
    3. Every man holding a leadership position meets the standards of that position or we stop, and find another way to move forward.
  2. Every man is engaged in his purpose by either:
    1. Becoming self-sufficient where it is lacking, or
    2. Choosing or inventing a project within Motomo’s 3 pillar system, which reflects the difference you want to make in the world while also serving our purpose as a whole.
  3. We are all in tighter communication.
    1. Projects like the Motomo Workplace Initiative, a project invented by the men, for the men, will be rolled out August 1st. It's a Facebook like, confidential space for men and teams to collaborate on projects together, learn about what's going on and to have their say be heard.

Within weeks of joining your first Men's Team, you realized that by working together men accomplish more. Whether easy or hard, it was a journey of learning to sacrifice and trust that brought you into a team, and raised every man's success. Just as you bonded as men into a team, it's time for us as teams to bond into tribes, as tribes to bond into regions and as regions bond into one powerful organization capable of truly making a difference on the planet. It all starts with you.

Humbly,

James O'Rourke, Motomo Coordinator
